She is still looking for the right man, says Deepika Padukone who is often seen with the son of businessman Vijay Mallya Siddharth, after breaking up with Ranbir Kapoor.

"I have not thought about marriage. I have yet to find the right man to even consider marriage," he told reporters in Deepika Imran Khan and Avantika Saturday wedding reception at which comes with Sidhharth.

When reporters asked about his relationship Siddharth, he also passed the ball to Deepika said: "I have nothing planned yet. You should ask him."

Commenting on the rumors about her and the relationship Deepika said: "I was out of town when I heard it, made me laugh."

Deepika, who appears with Imran in "Break Ke Baad", said it was vital for the reception to assist his co-star of the wedding.

"I owe it to Imran. I was shooting in Bhopal and landed fair and that comes straight from the airport to attend the reception, "he said.

Spicezee Bureau, Mumbai: South Indian actress Asin has replaced dimpled hottie Deepika Padukone in Sajid Khan’s comedy film ‘Housefull 2’. The ‘Ghajini’ star will play Akshay Kumar’s love interest in the film.

Apparently, after a number of failed attempts, Khan successfully managed to get Asin onboard.

Buzz has it that Dips had opted out of the film to team up with Sajid Nadiadwala for ‘Heer Aur Ranjha’.

Reportedly, Deepika had certain issues about her dates and was not in a position to commit to Khan.

However, it will be for the first time ever that Asin will be sharing screen space with the Khiladi of Bollywood. The actress had earlier got a chance to romance Akki when director Priyadarshan had offered her ‘De Dana Dan’. But she chose to opt out of it.

And considering the fact that apart from ‘Ghajini’ no other Bollywood film of Asin has garnered at the Box Office, she can no longer afford to be picky.

New Delhi, Dec 5 (IANS) Deepika Padukone loves romantic movies and says her ultimate aim is to do what Kajol did in 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' (DDLJ).

'I loved DDLJ and my dream role is Kajol's role in that film,' said Deepika, who has done romantic comedies since her debut 'Om Shanti Om' in 2007.

''Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' came at a time when I was growing up and watching a lot of Indian cinema. At that time parents used to oppose (lovers in the film) and the couple used to go all out to get together...but the parents were there to stop them. There was so much drama on screen. Song sequences were shot in Switzerland. I used to love it,' she added.

Deepika says she has enjoyed acting in romantic comedies like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', 'Chandni Chowk To China', 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Housefull' and the just released 'Break Ke Baad' and relishes mushy stories.

'As audience I have always enjoyed watching rom-coms which is why even as an actor I enjoy doing love stories,' she said.

But for Ashutosh Gowariker's just released 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey', the 24-year-old has taken a departure from her routine genre to play freedom fighter Kalpana Dutta, who was a part of the Chittagong uprising of the 1930s.

'I accepted the role primarily because I was getting a chance to work with Ashutosh Gowariker. Who wouldn't want to work with him? Secondly, I felt the subject was not given too much importance as part of our history books. So as an actor it was a different challenge to be able to educate the audience about a pertinent revolution for Indian independence,' Deepika said.

She sports two braids, simple saris and an almost no make-up look for the film; yet she feels her look is quite glamorous in its own way.

'I don't think this look is any less glamorous. I think the sari is the most glamorous and sensuous dress for women...which is why I chose to wear a sari over a dress for the Cannes Film Festival.'

Deepika will now be on a short break from shooting before she returns to the grind for 'Desi Boyz', starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham.

She also hopes to have a joyous Christmas and New Year.

'I like spending time with friends and family. I like taking short breaks every four-six months to unwind. Now in December, I will automatically get a break because it is holiday season with Christmas and New Year! The industry itself slows down a bit for a couple of weeks; so I think I will get a well-deserved break,' she said.

Abhishek, Deepika promote 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey' in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov.28 (ANI): Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone promoted 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey' here over the weekend.

Bachchan said he was very proud to play the main role, as it was very challenging.

"I did not know much about Master Da, sadly. The day Ashutosh (Ashutrosh Gowariker) narrated me the story about the incidents that took place in Chittagong in 1930, so, I thought that a film like this should be made," said Bachchan.

"So, if I did not know about Master Da and the incidents that took place in Chittagong in 1930, there may be many people in the country who would not know about all these. These are such historical incidents, which have lost their values and through this film we got the opportunity to show this to the world," he added.

Padukone said the role she played was an enterprising experiment.

"For me this film has been very challenging. It's also been huge responsibility because to play a character, it's not a fictional character. So, it is huge responsibility when you choose to become a part of a film like this," she said.

Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey' is based on the book 'Do and Die' depicting the night of well-planned successive attacks by Indian independence crusaders at Chittagong that threatened the British rulers.

The leader of this attack on the armoury at Chittagong was Masterda Surya Sen. The other members of this daring group were Ganesh Ghosh, Lokenath Baul, Nirmal Sen, Ambika Chakrobarty, Naresh Roy, Sasanka Datta, Ardhendu Dastidar, Harigopal Baul, Tarakeswar Dastidar, Ananta Singh, Jiban Ghoshal, Anand Gupta, Pritilata Waddedar and Kalpana Dutta. One among them was a teenager Subodh Roy.

Actor Imran Khan says his 'Break Ke Baad' co-star Deepika Padukone is his best till date.

"Deepika is my best co-star till date," he said and rated her over all his previous and current co-stars including Sonam Kapoor with whom his last movie 'I Hate Luv Storys' did well at the box office.

Imran said, "I love Deepika and she is my best co star till date."

Imran plays Abhay Gulati while Deepika essays the character of Aaliya Khan in 'Break Ke Baad' which releases on November 26.

"Both Abhay and Aaliya have known each other since they were four-years-old. Their friendship turned into love at the tender age of 15, when Abhay realises Aaliya is the girl for him," says Imran about his character.

However, Aaliya's life is defined by her burning desire to become an actress and she is unmindful of what or who comes in her way. Abhay who is still unsure about what he wants to do finds himself competing with Aaliya's incessant plans and projects to fulfil her dreams.

While their relationship blooms because of their personality differences, the baggage because of these differences also grows silently, he said.

According to Imran, 'Break Ke Baad' is not just a coming of age film, but a film about couples growing up - together.

In a fickle world where relationships break up on the smallest of differences, Abhay and Aaliya manage to save theirs, despite geographical ones.

Mumbai, (ANI): Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan launched an apparel line as part of a promotion for their upcoming movie Break Ke Baad in Mumbai. Padukone wore a floral dress with a pair of gladiator sandals, while Khan wore a blue and white checked casual shirt with trousers.

Padukone said that the movie has clothes that people would love to wear. "Here, the look is completely different. It's something that I think every girl can easily pick up and wear, very wearable. A lot of times, what you see in the films are not wearable," said Padukone.

Khan said, "Style is very big thing and in India, we like to copy our heroes. After people saw Dabangg, everyone started wearing sunglasses on the back like Salman Khan. Even I did that, for a short while. But we hope that people start copying our style as well."

Directed by debutant Danish Aslam, the movie revolves around a boy called Abhay Gulati and a girl called Aaliya Khan, who are friends since childhood. Their friendship turns into love, but Aaliya soon realises her passion to become an actress and they part ways.

The movie has been shot in Delhi, Mumbai and Mauritius and is slated for released on November 26.

Deepika Padukone: It was challenging to shift roles

Mumbai, Oct 19 (IANS) Deepika Padukone will be seen in two back-to-back films - as the free-spirited Aaliya in one and as the intense Kalpana in the other. The actress revealed that shifting roles was quite challenging for her.

'I did 'Break Ke Baad' and 'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey' immediately one after the other. So I think it was very challenging for me in terms of my mind space to shift from the character in a romantic modern-day love story to the one in a period film,' Deepika told IANS in an interview here at Turner Road.

'Break Ke Baad', also starring Imran Khan, has been directed by Danish Aslam and produced by Kunal Kohli. It is the love story of a young couple who break up and try to come back together and will hit the screens Nov 26.

'Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey', helmed by Ashutish Gowarikar, is a period film set in the Chittagong of British India. It revolves around a series of attacks that took place on a single night April 18, 1930, and its aftermath. The film, based on Manini Chatterjee's book, stars Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika in the lead. The film releases Dec 3.

While the characters of both the films are quite diverse on the face of it, the 24-year-old actress revealed the core characteristics were pretty similar and hence she relates to both of them.

'Even though one film is a period film and the other is a modern day relationship story, both the characters - Aaliya and Kalpana - are very strong, independent women. They are girls who have their own set of ideals, girls who want to be independent; so in that way I have identified with both characters,' she said.

Deepika, who started her Bollywood stint in 2007 opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 'Om Shanti Om', went on to do films like 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', 'Chandni Chowk To China' and 'Love Aaj Kal'.

This year she has already had three releases, including 'Karthik Calling Karthik', 'Housefull' and 'Lafangey Parindey'.

Asked about the apparent similarity between her character in 'Break Ke Baad' and in 'Love Aaj Kal', the actress said: 'People feel that the films are similar, but that's probably because both the films are love stories. Just because the genre is the same doesn't mean that films are similar.'

'In fact Meera's character from 'Love Aaj Kal' and Aliya's character in 'Break Ke Baad' are completely different. Meera was a more mature, understanding girl, who understood relationships, she liked the idea of being in love, whereas Aliya is a complete opposite.

'She believes that if you are in a relationship, it doesn't mean you have to get married. She doesn't believe that a couple have to live together and certain things like that. Her way of thinking about a relationship is very different. She is also very immature sometimes when it comes to relationships,' she added.

Finally when asked about her experience of working with a debut director, the actress said: 'Danish is a fantastic director; I think he is extremely talented and I'm not just saying this because I am working with him, but I think part of the reason for me to say yes to this film is because he came across as someone very confident, in spite of being a first time director.'

A very sensitive and passionate filmmaker known for his epic vision and grand spectacles is planning to remake Shakti Samanta's 1971 classic Amar Prem. And Deepika is all for it. "I think it's a great compliment. I'd love to do a film like Amar Prem. I want to do a classic Hindi-film heroine's part. That's my true calling. I'm really looking forward to it."

There is a special bonding burgeoning between Deepika and Sharmila Tagore who plays her mother in new-director Danish Aslam's film Break Ke Baad. The screen mother-daughter spend hours together.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who plays a freedom fighter in Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, says playing the spirited character of Kalpana was a dream come true.

Deepika stars alongside Abhishek Bachchan in Gowariker's period thriller based on the Chittagong uprising during the freedom struggle. The actress, who started her Bollywood journey with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om, will be seen in a new look in the film.

"It is something so new and unique for me. I am very grateful to Ashutosh who thought I was capable to carry off such a powerful role. It is a dream come true and a very important film of my career," Deepika, who was in the city to launch a designer footwear store, said.

The 24-year-old star seems to be keen on shedding her glamourous image with two back to back films. She last played a blind girl in Yash Raj's Lafangey Parindey with Neil Nitin and now will be seen in cotton sarees in Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey.

Talking about her co-star, Abhishek, Deepika said, "He is so much fun to work with. I'm glad that I am getting a chance to work with different kinds of actors."

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is based on the book Do And Die by Manini Chatterjee and centres around the Chittagong Uprising of the 1930s. The film has been shot mostly in Goa and Mumbai and will hit the theaters in December.

'Lafangey Parindey' fails to fly high at box office

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS) The title of the movie might be crisp as nachos, but Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone starrer edgy love story 'Lafangey Parindey' was not crunchy enough to attract the audiences to theatres.

'The business of 'Lafangey Parindey' was nothing great. It was below expectations as the movie could manage only 50 percent occupancy over the weekend on an average,' Amit Awasthi, senior manager (Programming and Operations) of Spice Cinemas, told IANS.

'The content was appreciated, but it couldn't gather hype because of the star cast. We are hoping it stretches till the second weekend,' he added.

'Lafangey Parindey' opening day's collection was approximately Rs.35 million (Rs.3.5 crore) across India. According to estimates, the movie's opening weekend net collections should be in the range of Rs.100-Rs.110 million, reports businessofcinema.com. Aamir Khan Productions' 'Peepli Live', that was made at a budget of Rs.100 million has earned about Rs.210 million in its first week at the Indian box office.

Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas said: ''Lafangey Parindey' is over as far as business is concerned. It could manage an occupancy of only 30-40 percent over the weekend. Though the content was OK, it had no buzz.'

Produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the story revolves around a street fighter Nandu (Neil), who can combat blindfolded and a visually challenged Pinky Palkar (Deepika) who can dance on skates.

While Deepika's performance in the movie has won her appreciation, it has proved a disappointment for Neil, whose last outing 'Jail' too bombed at the box office.

'The movie has been only average with only 30 percent occupancy over the weekend. It wasn't appreciated that much and now we have no hopes for it too,' said a source from PVR cinemas.

Amit Shah, chief manager (programming) of DLF DT cinemas, however, blamed the incessant rains for low footfalls.

'The weekend was not at all good. Despite a pretty OK content, the rains played spoilsport in the capital for footfalls. People just didn't come out of their houses to watch a movie. We got only 30-35 percent occupancy over the weekend,' said Shah.

'Considering tomorrow (Tuesday) is Raksha Bandhan, hope it gets some footfalls but otherwise now there is no scope for the movie picking up,' he added.

Deepak Taluja, senior vice president (business and operations) of Fun Cinemas, said: 'The weekend business was lukewarm. The occupancy was 30-35 percent. The content was OK but not very highly appreciable. Though weekdays now look slightly down, it looks positive for the next week as there are no big releases as such.'

Twitter not for me: Imran Khan

After months of being on micro-blogging site Twitter' actor Imran Khan now feels it isn't a right platform for him.

'I signed up on Twitter because I saw it as a way to interact on a personal level with my audience. I love interacting with fans and I've always looked for ways to do that - whether it's through online chats or live events' but I have started to feel that this is not the best medium for me to do so'' said Imran.

The actor was quite regular with his tweets before the release of his film 'I Hate Luv Storys'. But he now wants to move away.

'I don't want to give the impression that I'm upset or angry about anything... far from it. As I said' I have truly enjoyed having the chance to reach out to so many people and I truly appreciate all the love and support I've received. What it boils down to' I think' is that I just don't feel twitter is right for me. Thank you all for the good times. It's been a lot of fun'' he concluded.

'Lafangey Parindey' - edgy love story of street fighter, blind girl

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) After the 2007 box-office dud 'Laaga Chunri Mein Daag', director Pradeep Sarkar looks forward to securing a hit with 'Lafangey Parindey', an unusual love story about a blind ambitious girl and a street fighter that releases Friday.

Produced under the banner of Yash Raj Films, 'Lafangey Parindey' is about Nandu (Neil) who fights blindfolded and visually challenged Pinky Palkar (Deepika), who can dance on skates.

While Nandu is fierce and hungry to win, Pinky's ambition is to rise above all the 'losers' living in her locality and carve a niche for herself. They, along with a group of friends, set out on a journey to achieve the impossible.

Deepika calls it one of the most challenging films of her career.

'For me, this role out of all the films that I have done was the most challenging. It's not been easy. It required a lot of focus and concentration. I had to observe a lot of blind people before I could play this role,' Deepika told IANS.

'The biggest challenge was to pretend that I was not seeing. There were no supporting tools like black goggles or a stick with me to make it obvious that I am blind,' she added.

The actress along with other cast and crew spent time with visually challenged people to understand their behavioural nuances and figure out counter actions.

The film will have some daring stunts and both the actors have performed them themselves.

Neil admits he was covered in bruises for a major part of the shoot but insists that before he attempted the death-defying action sequences, he was properly trained by action director Sham Kaushal.

'There's nothing fake about the fists of fury that fly in Pradeep Sarkar's film. It requires the rawest of physical violence and it can't be faked. So if you see me now I'm covered with welters, wounds and bruises, all gifted to me every day while shooting this, the most dangerous film of my career,' Neil had told IANS.

In fact, the actor narrowly escaped a major accident while shooting for the film when his bike went over a manhole and the actor lost his balance. Fortunately, he quickly managed to jump back on and wasn't seriously hurt.

Even Deepika didn't shy away from taking risks. A scene required her to ride a bike and fall into a muddy dip. The director and Neil were wary of Deepika doing such a stunt on her own, but the actress refused to use a body double and successfully performed the stunt on her own.

Whether Neil and Deepika's hard work will pay off is yet to be seen.

New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) Model-turned-Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone will be the showstopper for popular jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali at the inaugural India International Jewellery Week (IIJW), starting in Mumbai Sunday.

'Said I would announce the showstopper. She is beautiful, warm and a stunner. She is none other than Deepika Padukone. Thank you babe,' Farah, who will showcase her collection on the opening day of the jewellery week, posted on her Twitter page.

The five-day IIJW, hosted by Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC), will see collections from a melange of 30 designers, including Farah, Varun D. Jani, Bina Goenka and Rhea Nasta. Well-known jewellery brands like Mirari, Gitanjali, Amrapali, Tanishq and Ganjam will also participate in it.

The event is to be held at the Hotel Grand Hyatt, in Santa Cruz.

It will also feature 1,600 stalls displaying the works of 776 exhibitors, and participants from Thailand, Belgium, Israel, Italy, Turkey and the UAE will also set up their stalls.

From the very Beginning, the girl's family objected strongly on her dating this guy. Saying that it has got to do with family background & that the girl will have to suffer for the rest of her life if she were to be with him.

Due to family's pressure, the couple quarrel very often. Though the girl love the guy deeply, but she always ask him: "How deep is your love for me?"

As the guy is not good with his words, this often cause the girl to be very upset. With that & the family's pressure, the girl often vent her anger on him. As for him, he only endure it in silence.

After a couple of years, the guy finally graduated & decided to further his studies in overseas. Before leaving, he proposed to the girl: "I'm not very good with words. With that, she sent the ring back to him. In return, the guy sent millions & millions of reply, and countless of phonecalls,.. All the girl could do, besides crying, is still crying....

The parents decided to move away, hoping that she could eventually forget everything & be happy.

With a new environment, the girl learn sign language & started a new life. Telling herself everyday that she must forget the guy. One day, her friend came & told her that he's back. She asked her friend not to let him know what happened to her. Since then, there wasn't anymore news of him.

A year has passed & her friend came with an envelope, containing an invitation card for the guy's wedding. The girl was shattered. When she open the letter, she saw her name in it instead.

When she was about to ask her friend what's going on, she saw the guy standing in front of her. He used sign language telling her "I've spent a year's time to learn sign language. Just to let you know that I've not forgotten our promise. Let me have the chance to be your voice. I Love You. With that, he slipped the ring back into her finger.

Following the trouble in their relationship, they didn't even attend Karan Johar's show. They were spotted at designer Shabina Khan's bash but everyone present could sense the trouble between them. It is said that the problem started, as Deepika thinks Ranbir doesn't committed towards her.

However, sources close to the couple said that they have patched up after a fight. It added that fights happen in every relationship.

“I’ve got this personalised Yahoo page for myself so that I can now check mail, chat and send photos all the time,” says the actress. While most actors have now started to use Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with fans personally, Deepika has not yet gone that way as yet.

“But I do get a lot of e-mails from fans and I do try to reply whenever I can. The Internet is such a personal way to keep in touch with your fans.”

Saif's emergency landing

On board the British Airways’ Mumbai-London flight that made an emergency landing on Thursday following a fire warning in the cockpit, was our Saif Ali Khan.

Flight BA-138, that took off from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 3 am, was 30 minutes into journey when the pilot heard a fire alarm in the cockpit. He immediately decided to return and a full emergency was declared at the airport. The aircraft landed at 4.10 am with all its 207 passengers safe.

Saif was going to London to take part in his ex-school (Winchester’s) alumni function. A bit rattled by the incident, the actor is said to have told a co-passenger, “I’m grateful to Allah for protecting me.” He then headed to his flat in Bandra and took a flight later in the afternoon to London.

Saif is expected to reach Mumbai in the early hours of Saturday and was unavailable for comment. However, his manager Zahid did say, “By the grace of God, it wasn’t anything too serious.

Deepika desires Salman Khan, After SRK

Mumbai: Deepika Padukone might have kick-started her Bollywood career with Shah Rukh Khan and since then is known to be part of his inner circle, but she claims she is more than open to branch out and work with King Khan's arch enemy Salman Khan.

"I'm so new in the industry and I have been very lucky to have got the opportunity to work with the biggest names in the industry. I have worked with SRK, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan and now I would like to work with Salman," says Deepika, who is currently basking in the success of Love Aaj Kal.

She adds, "I feel Salman is a very honest person. He is genuine about what he feels and what I have read and known about him, he seems to be very caring."

Deepika admires AamirKhan too. "He has been extremely selective and it has worked so amazingly for him. I don't know whether he does it purposely or things turn out to be like that but he is a perfectionist."

Deepika might be game to talk about Sallu but she is not cool when it comes to talking about his girlfriend Katrina Kaif with whom she's been apparently sharing bad vibes. It's been reported that Deepika didn't approve of beau Ranbir Kapoor and Kat's growing bond on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and that she is responsible for the duo being no longer on talking terms.

"I wouldn't want to comment on Katrina," was her short and snappy reply when quizzed. But was her relationship shaky when rumours about Kat were on the rise? "Ranbir and I trust each other and we are going well. I realise that when there is no movie releasing people focus on other things and that people will even talk about personal things. All this used to affect me a lot before, it doesn't anymore."

Post their box-office bomb Chandni Chowk to China, ironically Deepika is now teaming up with Akshay Kumar for a comedy called Housefull. "I love the passion and drive that Akshay has. With him around, you get to learn a lot on the sets. I know our first film together didn't work out but there's nothing called an unlucky jodi," she says.

Has love really evolved over the years? How? Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali provides the answer in Love Aaj Kal, a typically Bollywood masala film which places the Romeo-Juliet romance in modern times. Accompanied by actors Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, Ali dropped by Ambience Mall on Friday to gush about his latest offering. “It is a film about a modern day working couple who understand the issues of being in a relationship,” he said. Love Aaj Kal releases on July 31.

He’s also repeated the Punjabi flavour of Jab We Met, even getting Khan to sport a turban and including Punjabi songs and scenes at Damdama sahib, Bathinda, in the film. “I love the exuberance of Punjabi culture and have traveled a lot in trains across Punjab where many stories emerged,” Ali explained.

How did Padukone identify with her character, Meera? It was Khan who quipped up, “She would always get drunk on the sets and we had to carry her away before she embarrassed herself further.”

Khan, who turns producer under the banner Illuminati Films with this film, added that he was “feeling the pressure now that the film is nearing release”. But, if the grapevine is to be believed, production was not his only burden — Did he have to do as many as 45 takes for the dance number Twist? “It was actually six or seven retakes,” he said, with the weariness of one who has been asked this question before. “And no, the steps were never changed for any dance number.”
